Airport Police Division

The Airport Police Division under the SPF was formed on 1 Nov 1970 when the State Police assumed the responsibility for airport security at Paya Lebar Airport . When airport operations moved to Changi in 1981, APD shifted to Changi Airport . From then, the division had grown from strength to strength in tandem with Airport developments to cope with the increased passenger and cargo traffic. In April 2000, APD shifted to its current location to make way for Passenger Terminal 3.

Today, APD is entrusted with the task of keeping Singapore Changi Airport and Seletar Airport safe and secured as a vibrant commercial and business hub.

Mission
The mission of the Airport Police Division is to protect Singapore civil aviation against Crime.

Vision
To make Changi and Seletar airports the safest airports in the world.

Roles and Functions
APD functions as the law enforcement agency, responsible for the maintenance of law and order within its jurisdiction, which encompasses the Singapore Changi Airport and Seletar Airport .

SPF is also the Appropriate Authority for security at the airport. Hence, APD, as the executive arm of the Police within the airport, is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the National Civil Aviation Security Programme. It is to protect the security, regularity and efficiency of international civil aviation in the airport and safeguard against acts of unlawful interference aimed at passengers, personnel, aircraft, airport terminals or aircraft navigation installations and equipment.

In carrying out its roles, APD maintains close relationships with its partners which comprises the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Immigration & Checkpoints Authority ( ICA ) and other government agencies, as well as Changi Airport Group ( CAG ), airline operators, ground handling agencies and other private organisations operating within the airport.

With the airport as a vital installation linking Singapore with the rest of the world, APD strives to fulfil its duties, enabling Changi Airport to retain its accolade as one of the best international airports in the world.
