Introduction
Jurong Police Division first came into existence as the 'Rural West' Division on 24 Sep 1965 and operated using a standalone building located at Bukit Panjang. As the communities in the west grew larger, police posts were built in Ama Keng, Mandai and Kranji.

Following Singapore's independence, the area undergone rapid rural and urban industrial developments. From then on, the Rural West Division expanded to meet the challenges of policing a larger population. In 1975, it shifted to the Taman Jurong Police Station at Yung Ho Road. In 1980, it became known as the Jurong Police Division and shifted to Corporation Road. Today, the Division occupies a high-tech and spanky new building located at No.2 Jurong West Avenue 5.

Among the 6 land divisions of Singapore Police Force (SPF), Jurong Police Division occupies the largest land area (38%). Besides residential areas and key industrial sites, it is home to 14 tourist attractions and boasts the longest coastal area. It is also responsible for the ever-bustling Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints. In addition, it serves a total of 131 grassroots organisations.

Mission

The mission of Jurong Police Division is to uphold the law, maintain order and keep the peace within our areas of jurisdiction.

Vision

The vision of Jurong Police Division is to be " A Leading Police Division"
We are a leading Police Division ensuring the safety, security and continued success of our nation.
We are a harmonious family with people as our valuable assets and committed to continuous learning.
We work in partnership with the community and provide excellent service to the public.

Roles and Functions

At Jurong Police Division, we ensure the safety and security of our community through the provision of four main services:
Policing - We respond to cases and provide policing services to maintain law and order, protect life and property from crime and public disorder.
Investigation - We provide thorough and fair investigation, including searching for and apprehending the offender.
Police Counter - We provide prompt, assured and personalised service for walk in customers.
Public Education - We educate the community at large on crime prevention measures to safeguard them from becoming victims of crime.

The introduction of the Community Safety and Security Programme (CSSP) in 1997 is a strong start in Jurong Police Division's effort to consolidate community relations and foster greater cooperation with the public. Over the past 2-3 years, a few successes have been seen with lower crime rates in neighbourhoods and higher level of residents' participation in community involvement activities.

The tragedies in New York, Washington and Bali posed an increasingly complex and dynamic operating environment. Jurong Police Division worked closely with other Home Team counterparts to protect the borders, key installations and selected public places. This is to ensure the safety and security of all Singaporeans will not be compromised.

Jurong Police Division is embarking on a journey towards People Developer Standard (PDS). Through PDS, the division aims to maximise officers' fullest potential and create conditions for them to contribute their maximum capabilities. It stems from the division's firm belief that 'People are our most valued assets'.

In 2002, Jurong Police Division also piloted the implementation of the IB21 plan to enhance investigation excellence. Essentially, this IB21 plan reviewed the existing structure of the Investigation Branch (IB) for better alignment with the investigative strategies of SPF. Under the new structure, IB enhanced its operational capabilities in areas of supervisory management, training and development, investigation quality, NPC investigation and IB-NPC relationships.

The Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) system was implemented in Jurong Police Division in 1999 to provide one-stop service to the public. It also enhanced the job scope and challenges of front-line officers. The division has a total of 6 NPCs and 10 NPPs under its jurisdiction.
