Introduction
Operations Department is the staff authority on operational, community
involvement, custodial and licensing matters in the Singapore Police Force. There are eight
divisions in the Department namely Ops Policy and Development, Ops Management,
Ops Planning, Ops Security Planning, Ops Community Involvement, Police Custodial, Radio and
Licensing Divisions.
Mission
The mission of the Operations Department is to turn plans into Action.
Roles and Functions
The Operations Department has a wide range of roles and functions ranging from monitoring daily operations to providing strategic and operational guidance to line units. It leads the development and exploration of new policing skills, knowledge and equipment to enhance SPF's operational capabilities and strengthen community partnership. It also formulates operational and contingency plans to enhance SPF's operational readiness, including enhancing the operational capabilities of NSKUs. The department houses the communications nerve centre of SPF, which is also known as the combined operations room. The department also oversees the regulation of arms and explosive, secondhand dealers, street collection and entertainment centres.
