As part of the security measures for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games (Singapore 2010), the following events and respective areas have been declared as ‘Special Events’ and ‘Special Event Areas’ under the Public Order Act¹. Areas around the venues that are not used for the Singapore 2010 will remain publicly accessible.

The gazette on the Special Event Areas will take effect on the following dates and times:

Security checks on persons and belongings may be conducted by Police officers within the Special Event Areas. For safety and security reasons, members of the public are prohibited from bringing the items listed in Annex C into the Special Event Areas unless authorised by Police. Organisers of all public assemblies, whether indoors or outdoors, held within the Special Event Areas must also apply for permits from the Police at http://www.spf.gov.sg/licence/frameset_PP.html

Police seek the cooperation of the public to comply with all orders issued by Police officers. Persons engaging in activities which compromise security within the special event areas may be removed and dealt with under the law.
