A case of cash cards stolen from 22 cars on the same night of the Chinese New Year holiday on 8 Feb 2008 caught the attention of the general public. The modus operandi of the culprit was to use a heavy object such as a brick to crack the windscreen to steal the cash card within the In-vehicle Unit (IU). Serial Taxi Robber
A serial robber targeted taxi drivers at night after flagging down their cabs along the streets. Upon reaching the destination, he would point a sharp object at the driver and ask for cash and handphones. A breakthrough was finally achieved when Police managed to trace one of the stolen handphones and nabbed the culprit through an ambush.
