The Police Coast Guard patrols the coastline of Singapore every day, 24/7. Due to the porous nature of the sea borders, Singapore continues to face intrusions. In the first nine months of this year, the Police Coast Guard conducted 25 interceptions, which resulted in the arrest of 87 persons and seizure of 10 boats.

The Coastal Security Patrol Force
Since November 2008, the Police Coast Guard has set up the Coastal Security Patrol to also cover the security of the land along the coastlines areas, especially in remote parts of Singapore’s coastline and known hotspots for illegal landings.
The expansion of Police Coast Guard’s role has provided the additional deterrence to potential perpetrators such as illegal smugglers of contraband cigarettes.
