Organisational Development and Policing

At the national level, the SPF undertakes initiatives and activities that are in line with national goals of playing a more active role in the international arena and the needs of the community as a whole.

Local & Overseas Conferences

We share our knowledge and skills through participating in both local and overseas conferences where key SPF officers share their experiences and expertise on areas of organisational development, for example, in Learning Organisation, Public Relations, Resource Management, or Service Quality.

Examples are the Koban Seminar on community policing, jointly organised by SPF, MFA & Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on an annual basis.

International Policing

In addition, SPF fulfills its international obligations of sharing policing practices, and lending manpower support in international policing along with other United Nations Peacekeeping Forces (UNPKF), especially in the less developed countries and Forces. Examples of these are the missions at Phuket Thailand, and UN Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET). Such international efforts often go beyond our core function of keeping law and order. Between imparting valuable knowledge and skills and assisting to police these regions, our officers participating in these international missions also help to improve these communities, for example, by helping to install taps and other sanitary facilities, and by building sports facilities etc.
