NATIONAL SAFETY AND SECURITY WATCH GROUP (SSWG) AWARD

Introduction

As part of strengthening public-private sector partnership to fight crime and terrorism threats as well as raise the emergency preparedness level of the business community, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) have jointly established the National Safety and Security Watch Group (SSWG) Award in June 2008, that is given out annually from Year 2009 and onwards, for all SSWG clusters and members to apply.

Through this Award, commercial building owners and management are encouraged to take greater ownership of their localised safety and security concerns, and to work more closely with the Home Team to institute target-hardening measures and formulate robust emergency protocols to tackle a myriad of contingencies against a rapid-changing security climate.

The National SSWG Award will encompass a 2-tier assessment by the Home Team. Applicants who have cleared the first tier of assessment comprising evaluation of the nomination form will be contacted subsequently for the second tier of assessment, which is a site visit.
