The meaning of Private Investigator is defined in Section 5 of the Private Security Industry Act Cap 250A. Private investigator must possess an individual private investigator licence, which is non transferable, before he/she is allowed to perform private investigation field work. Unless exempted, private investigator is required to attend and pass relevant training as required by the authority. Private investigators are not allowed to accept assignments on their own but through a licensed private investigation agency.  

The processing time for such applications is 12 working days from the date of receipt of the application.
