Any sale of intoxicating liquors within Singapore will require a Liquor Licence under the Customs Act Cap 70.
The Liquors Licensing Board issues two categories of licenses:
- for retail sale of intoxicating liquors for consumption on the premises, and
- for retail or wholesale of intoxicating liqours for consumption off the premises
There are 4 main types of licence as follows:
- Public house licence is for the sale of all types of liquor (inclusive of beer and stout) for consumption on the premises.
- Beer house licence is for the sale of only beer and stout for consumption on the premises.
- Wholesale liquor/Retail liquor shop licence is for the sale of all types of liquor (inclusive of beer and stout) for consumption off the premises.
- Wholesale beer/Retail beer licence is for the sale of only beer and stout for consumption off the premises
