|Prior to deployment, all approved security officers are required to pass the following NSRS module or WSQ statement of attainment :|
|-||Provide Guard and Patrol Services; and|
|-||Provide Incident Management Services or Handle Security Incidents And Services|
|Applicants who have passed only one of the 2 modules will be deemed untrained security officers and will be in breach of the Licensing Conditions if he is deployed.|
|Applicants who fulfill the criteria below may apply for an exemption from the training requirements for security officers. Exemption will be granted at the discretion of the Licensing Officer.|
|Applicants who qualify as trained or exempted security officers, by the criteria set forth above may, upon completion of the following additional NSRS module or WSQ statement of attainment:|
|-||Supervise Security Officers / Supervise Security Activities.|
|to be considered trained security supervisors.|
|Applicants who fulfill the criteria below may apply for exemption from the training requirements for security supervisors. Exemption will be granted at the discretion of the Licensing Officer. All exempted security supervisors are deemed exempted officers.|
|PERSONS WHO MAY BE EXEMPTED FROM TRAINING REQUIREMENT FOR SECURITY OFFICER|
|1||- Former Auxiliary Police Officers who have completed and passed the Basic Auxiliary Police Officer Course conducted by CISCO or AETOS APF Training School.|
|-Former uniformed commissioned officer / uniformed senior officer / other ranks from the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), the Singapore Prison Service (Prisons), the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the Corrupt Practices Investigations Bureau (CPIB).|
- Those who have completed Full-time / Part-time National Service in the SPF.
|- Those who have completed Full-time National Service in the SCDF.|
|- Volunteer Special Constabulary (VSC) officers from SPF.|
|- Former regular uniformed commissioned officer / other ranks from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).|
|- SAF full-time National Servicemen who had served full-time NS in the vocation of Military Police or Regimental Police.|
|2||Person who has passed the Essential Security Guarding at Group 4 CISCO Training before 1 Jan 96 .|
|3||Person who has passed the Specialised Guarding Skill at Group 4 CISCO Training before 1 Jan 96 .|
|4||Person who has passed the Advance Security Course at APRO Asian Protection Pte Ltd before 1 Jan 96 .|
|5||Person who has passed the Basic Protection Officer Course at APRO Asian Protection Pte Ltd before 1 Nov 2002.|
|6||Person who has passed the Basic Security Training Course at APRO Asian Protection Pte Ltd before 1 Nov 2002 .|
|7||Person who has passed the 2-day Basic Security Course Examination organised by ACSA or SAS and certified by SHRI or RELC before 1 Nov 2002 .|
|8||Person who has passed the Certificate in Hotel Security Operations organised by the SHATEC before 1 Jan 1998.|
|9||Those with security-related academic qualifications or work experiences may write in to Licensing Officer for permission to be assessed via the ASSESSMENT ONLY PATHWAY (AOP).|
|PERSONS WHO MAY BE EXEMPTED FROM TRAINING REQUIREMENT FOR SUPERVISORS
S/No Criteria for Exemption
|1||Former regular officers or current reserve officers who have attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and above with the SPF, VSC, CNB or any Auxiliary Police Force.|
|2||Supervisor who has passed the Supervising Security Activities at Group 4 CISCO Training before 1 Aug 2004 .|
|3||Supervisor who has passed the Security Supervisors Course Examination certified by SHRI or RELC before 1 Aug 2004 .|
|4||Supervisor who has passed the Security Managers and Chief Security Officers Course at APRO Asian Protection Pte Ltd before 1 Aug 2004.|
|5||Person who has a Diploma in Police Studies and Security Management offered by Temasek Polytechnic.|
|6||Person who has a Diploma in Security & Fire Safety Management offered by Temasek Polytechnic.|
|7||Person who is deployed at a hotel and has passed the Certificate in Hotel Security Management organised by the SHATEC before 1 Jan 1998.|

|STEPS FOR SUBMITTING "CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE"(COS) BY EX-UNIFORMED SERVICE PERSONNEL SEEKING TRAINING EXEMPTION|

|Scan a copy of the "Certificate of Service"|

|Ensure COS is uploaded|
|Acknowledgement number "PS/20YYMMDD/XXXX" will be issued for successful submission|

|Scan and upload a copy of the "Certificate of Service" to the email|

A "Certificate of Service" should contain your name, NRIC, vocation, length of service and performance in service.
Who needs to apply for a security officer licence?
A “security officer” means any individual who, for reward, carries out any of the following functions:
(a) patrolling or guarding another person’s property (including cash in transit) by a physical means (which may involve the use of patrol dogs) or by electronic means;
(b) keeping the property (including cash in transit) of another person under surveillance, including for the purpose of preventing theft thereof;
(c) acting as a bodyguard or bouncer; or
(d) in respect of any public place or other premises and as part of his regular duties, performing any function of screening individuals seeking entry thereto.
(e) regulating traffic under the Road Traffic Act (Cap 276).
“bouncer” means a person who, in respect of any place of entertainment or other similar premises, and as part of his regular duties, performs for reward any function of –
(a) screening individuals seeking entry;
(b) controlling or monitoring the behaviour of individuals; or
(c) removing individuals for behavioural reasons.
“screening” means –
(a) a search of an individual, or of any property in the individual’s possession, by means of an equipment that is designed to carry out the search without touching the individual or the individual’s property, as the case may be;
(b) a frisk search of an individual conducted by quickly running the hands over the individual’s outer clothing, and an examination of anything worn or carried by the individual that is conveniently and voluntarily removed by the individual; or
(c) a physical search of any personal property in the individual’s possession, not being clothing worn by the individual.
|I am working as an in-house security officer or part-time security officer, must I apply for a security officer licence?
|What are the conditions and conducts that I must adhere to?

|Is the Security Officer’s Identification Card regulated?
The Security Officer’s Identification Card must be carried by the Security Officer at all times during his course of duties. If his license has been revoked, the ID card is to be returned.
|What should I do if I change my residential address?
You only need to report the change of address with any Neighborhood Police Centre, Neighbourhood Police Post or Police Station. Our system will be notified of your latest address from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority.
|Under what situation can my licence be suspended or revoked?
For example, if you have been charged in the Courts, arrested or under investigation by law enforcement agencies.
|If I do not wish to keep my licence, what should I do?
You may voluntarily terminate your licence online using "Termination of Licence" with your licence number.
|How long do I have to wait before I know the outcome of my application?
For security officers, at least 5 working days upon receipt of your payment.
|What is the fee for an application of a security officer licence?
(a) It is $16 for a 5-year validity of security officer licence.
(b) It is another $20 for the making of the security officer identification card after you have obtained your security officer licence and passed the necessary WSQ training courses.
|How do I submit my certificates and supporting documents to seek training exemption?
