Mr Khoo Boon Hui, Commissioner of Police (CP), Singapore, has been elected as the President of the INTERPOL Executive Committee on 10 Oct 08 at the 77th INTERPOL General Assembly (IGA) held in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The INTERPOL Executive Committee comprises 13 members representing Africa, America, Asia and Europe. Prior to this election, Commissioner Khoo had served as the Vice President for Asia on the INTERPOL Executive Committee since 2006. Commissioner Khoo will assume the duties of President of INTERPOL in addition to his existing duties as Commissioner of the Singapore Police Force (SPF). During his four-year term as President of INTERPOL, Commissioner Khoo will be based in Singapore.

On his appointment to the top post of the world’s largest international police organization, Commissioner Khoo said, “I am truly honoured to be entrusted with the role of leading INTERPOL as the President of its Executive Committee. INTERPOL plays a critical role in international police cooperation by equipping police forces around the world with the necessary infrastructure, training and operational support to combat transnational organized crime and terrorism. As the new President, I will build on the progress we have made thus far, and introduce changes that will allow INTERPOL to better meet the demands of international policing in the 21st century”.
