Police arrested two Chinese men aged 48 and 45 years old on 1st and 2nd July 2009 respectively for committing a break-in at a Cash Converter outlet in Jurong East on 24 June 09.
On 24 June 09, Police were informed of a case of break-in at a Cash Converter outlet located at Jurong East Street 13. Items stolen include an assortment of watches and pens worth $25,000/- in total.
Following up on the case, officers from Clementi Police Division conducted intensive enquiries in the neighbourhood. The break through came when the suspects’ identities were established via CCTV footage from the area.
On 1st July 2009 at about 8.25 pm , the 48 year-old suspect was placed under arrest at the bus stop in front of Blk 210 Jurong East St 21. The 2nd suspect was subsequently arrested on 2 July at about 7.45 am at the void deck of Blk 210 Jurong East St 21.
Both suspects will be charged in Court on 3 July 2009 for the offence of Housebreaking & Theft by Night read with Common Intention. This offence carries a punishment of imprisonment for a term not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years.
Commander of Clementi Police Division HQ, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Ng Yeow Boon, commended his officers for their good investigative work and perseverance resulting in the successful arrest of the two suspects.
