Update on Unidentified Woman Found At Park Near Petir Road - Law Catches Up with Murder Suspect

Police have arrested a 26-year-old male Nigerian overstayer in connection with the death of a 25-year-old female Singaporean Chinese whose decomposed body was found at a park near Block 201 Petir Road on 29 December 09.

As the body was highly decomposed and no identifying documents were found, the identity of the deceased could not be immediately ascertained. Nonetheless, through forensic DNA matching, the identity of the deceased was eventually established on 5 January 2010.

Leaving no stone unturned, Police mounted extensive islandwide operations which resulted in the arrest of the suspect late last night at a unit at Boon Lay Drive.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 09 January 2010 for Murder which carries the death penalty.
