Duo Arrested for Robbing Teenage Girl
 

Police have arrested two 19 year-old youths who are believed to be involved in a case of robbery that took place at Blk 121 McNair Road on 24 January 2010.

On 24 January 2010 at about 10.35 am, Police were informed that a 15-year-old girl had been robbed at the staircase landing of Blk 121 McNair Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was in the vicinity of the said location when she was suddenly grabbed from behind and knocked unconscious. After regaining consciousness, she discovered her mobile phone, wallet which contained cash of $10 and other personal belongings missing. She immediately sought help from a resident who assisted her in calling for the Police.

Through extensive investigative follow-up, officers from the Central Police Division managed to establish the identity of a suspect, and swiftly arrested him early this morning at about 12.10 am. Following this, the identity of an accomplice was established and he was subsequently arrested on the same day at around 2.40 am at Blk 43 Circuit Road. The victim’s mobile phone and her wallet were also recovered.

The two suspects will be charged in Court on 27 January 2010 for the offence of robbery with hurt. If convicted, they face a jail term of between 5 to 20 years and caning of at least 12 strokes.

Commander of Central Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Lau Peet Meng, commended his officers for their good investigative work and reiterated that the Police will spare no efforts to apprehend such criminals.
