Indian National Arrested in Connection With Murder of 30 Year-Old Filipino at Bencoolen Street
 

Police have arrested a 34 year-old male Indian national in connection with the murder of 30 year-old Roselyn Reyes Pascua.

Roselyn Reyes Pascua, a Filipino, was found with stab wounds in her rented room at Bencoolen Street on 15 March 2010. Paramedics subsequently pronounced her dead at about 3.55am that same day.

Police worked tirelessly round the clock over the last three days to track down the suspect. On 17 March 2010 at about 4.00pm, the suspect was arrested in the vicinity of Kitchener Road in Little India. He will be charged in Subordinate Court 26 on 19 March 2010 for an offence of murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces the death penalty.

Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Senior Assistant Commissioner Ng Boon Gay said, "Murder is a serious crime. We will spare no efforts to bring the perpetrator to justice. My officers have worked round the clock and left no stone unturned in their hunt for the suspect. Their thoroughness and resourcefulness in their work have paid off. I would like to commend my officers for their dedication and professionalism in solving the case."
