Four Youths Arrested For Theft from Vehicle And Theft of Bicycle

Police arrested four youths aged between 15 and 19 years old for theft from vehicle and theft of bicycle.

On 7 April 2010 at about 3.00 am , whilst on patrol in the vicinity of Tanglin Halt Close, officers from Queenstown Neighbourhood Police Centre spotted four youths riding on three bicycles behaving suspiciously beside a parked lorry. Upon checking, one of the youths was found in possession of a haversack containing tools, lighters and hand phone chargers.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the youth is believed to have earlier broken into two motor lorries that were parked at the heavy vehicle carpark at Tanglin Halt Close, a short distance from where they were first spotted. Investigations further revealed that the youths had stolen a bicycle earlier from the void deck of Block 12A Ghim Moh Road .

The four youths will be charged in Court on 8 April 2010 for the offence of theft from motor vehicles and bicycle with common intention under section 379 read with section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a punishment which may extend to 3 years, or a fine, or both.

Acting Commander of Clementi Police Division, Superintendent Sekher Warrier, commended the officers for their vigilance which resulted in the successful arrest of the four youths.
