Second CID-led Dragnet in Three Days Sees Another 138 Nabbed
 

For the second time in less than three days, another multi-agency operation led by the Criminal Investigation Department swept through Geylang, sending a clear signal that the enforcement agencies are determined to keep crime off the streets.

The operation which lasted 13 hours and ended early this morning, saw more than 150 officers from the Singapore Police Force, the Central Narcotics Bureau,the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority and the Singapore Customs working together.

138 persons were arrested for a variety of criminal offences such as gang-related activities, immigration offences, illegal employment, peddling of contraband cigarettes and vice-related activities. The arrests were made at various locations in Geylang, including entertainment outlets, back lanes, lodging houses and along the roads.

Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ng Boon Gay, expressed his appreciation to the other agencies for their continued support and praised the officers involved for their dedication and good coordination. He added, “We will not tolerate illicit activities on our streets. Together with our Home Team partners and partners from the various agencies, the police will continue to exert pressure on these criminal elements.”

Investigations against those arrested are ongoing.
