27 Nabbed in Pre-Dawn Raid at Forested Hideout

In a three-hour operation from 10 pm yesterday to 1 am this morning, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and Jurong Police Division raided the forested area off Bukit Batok Road and apprehended 27 foreign nationals for vice and immigration offences.

Although the forested area was the size of about 4 football fields, the well-planned raid caught the perpetrators by surprise and all 27 suspects were arrested in one fell swoop. The 27 suspects arrested comprised of 21 males and 6 females of various nationalities between the ages of 22 and 51. Investigations are in progress.

Commander Jurong Police Division DAC Cheang Keng Keong highlighted that the key factor leading to the success of the operation was good intelligence and planning leading up to the operation. DAC Cheang also warned that Police will not hesitate to take action against such illegal activities and added that "enforcement action will also be taken against syndicates who harbour or engage offenders involved in vice activities".
