Traffic Arrangements For International Institute Of Strategic Studies (IISS) Asia Security Conference 2010

The 9th IISS Asia Security Conference will be held in Singapore from Friday, 4 June 2010 to Sunday, 6 June 2010 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore. Delegates from 28 countries will be attending the meeting to discuss issues on defence and security in the Asia Pacific region.

Appropriate measures will be put in place by Police to ensure the security of the event and the safety of delegates. This includes road blocks and security checks which will be carried out at and around vicinity of Shangri-La Hotel. During the event, traffic flow along Anderson Road and Orange Grove Road is expected to be heavy, especially during peak hours.

Motorists are advised to avoid surrounding roads of Shangri-La Hotel and to plan their journey early as traffic is expected to be slow moving. Motorists proceeding to Stevens Road from Tanglin Road ; and Orchard Road from Stevens Road and Balmoral Road are advised to use alternate route via Scotts Road . EMAS Traffic Information Boards will also be used to inform motorists of prevailing traffic conditions.

As parking facilities within Shangri-La Hotel will be limited, hotel visitors are advised to car pool or take public transport during this period. Strict enforcement action, which includes towing, will be taken against vehicle owners for illegal parking along affected roads.

Public understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated.
