The Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) of the Singapore Police Force (SPF) was presented with the prestigious VISA Recognition Award at the yearly Visa International Security Summit held today in Hanoi , Vietnam.

Every year, recognition awards are awarded to law enforcement agencies for their demonstrated commitment and success in the fight against payment card related crimes. The selection committee comprising staff from VISA International will judge agencies nominated by VISA International clients based on the following criteria:

a) Overall contribution to the protection of cardholders, merchant, banks and other stakeholders in the payment card industry

b) Specific successes in the investigation of payment card crimes (arrest of criminals, confiscation of materials and devices used to conduct payment card related crimes)

c) Responsiveness to support queries by VISA and its clients

d) Effectiveness of prosecution of payment card related crimes

The SPF is honoured to be a recipient of this prestigious award. Director of Commercial Affairs Department, Mr Ong Hian Sun said, "I am proud that our efforts in combating payment card-related crimes have gained international recognition. We are thankful for the appreciation and support shown by our strategic partners. We will continue to work closely with relevant stakeholders to preserve the integrity of Singapore 's payment card system."
