18 Nabbed in Series of Joint Enforcement Operations by Police, ICA and MOM
A total of 18 persons, three men and 15 women, were arrested in a series of enforcement operations conducted by the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) from last night to early this morning.
Led by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the series of operations which lasted more than 10 hours saw 18 persons arrested for various criminal offences such as vice-related and immigration offences. The arrests were made at various locations, including back lanes and lodging houses, in the vicinity of Syed Alwi Road and Geylang. Action will also be taken against those who were found to have committed housing infringements such as failing to provide an acceptable accommodation in some of the lodging houses.
Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Ng Boon Gay, expressed his appreciation to the agencies involved for their strong support in the operations. He added, “Such enforcement actions are necessary to weed out illicit activities. To keep the streets safe, Police will not let up on such efforts."
Investigations against those arrested are ongoing.
