A swift and well-coordinated Police response saw the arrest four men, aged between 15 and 26 years, in one hour after they had robbed a 40-year-old man earlier this morning.
On 19 Aug 2010 at about 1.00am , the victim, a 40-year-old man was walking at the carpark near Blk 55 Lengkok Bahru when he was approached by one of the suspects who asked him to purchase a beer. The victim declined and walked away but was suddenly grabbed and assaulted by two of the suspects who snatched away his bag before fleeing together with two other suspects who were nearby. The victim immediately reported the matter to the Police.
Officers from Clementi Police Division responded to the scene within minutes and conducted a thorough search of the area. The well-coordinated search uncovered the suspects in no time and all four suspects were swiftly arrested at the void deck of Blk 48 Lengkok Bahru at about 2.00am . The victim’s bag containing his personal belongings was also recovered nearby.
Two of the suspects aged 15 and 16 years will be charged in Court on 20 Aug 2010 for an offence of Robbery with Hurt which carries a maximum of 20 years imprisonment and at least 12 strokes of the cane. The remaining two suspects will be released on bail pending further investigations.
