Police have arrested a 24-year-old man who had assaulted one female victim after outraging the modesty of another on 30 August 2010.
On 30 August 2010 at about 12.25am, Police were notified of the case which occurred in the vicinity of Block 151 Bedok Reservoir Road. Through extensive ground enquiries and follow-up investigations, officers from Bedok Police Division managed to establish the suspect’s identity. On 7 September 2010 at about 11.30pm, the suspect was arrested in the vicinity of Kaki Bukit Ave 3 following an ambush operation.
Investigations revealed that the suspect may be involved in other cases of similar nature.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 9 September 2010 for the offence of Outrage of Modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 2 years and will also be liable to caning. A court order will be sought to remand the suspect for further investigations.
Commander of Bedok Police Division HQ, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Teo Chun Ching, commended his officers for their good investigative follow-up which led to the arrest of the suspect.
