Police have arrested three youths aged 13 to 19 in connection with a series of theft from stall cases.
Between 12 Aug 2010 and 6 Sep 2010, a spate of theft from stalls was reported at hawker centres located at Tanglin Halt, Holland Drive and Ghim Moh Road. The items stolen included cash and cigarettes amounting to a total of about $1,500.
Through extensive follow up investigations, officers managed to establish the identities of two of the suspects. On 9 Sep 2010 at about 12.00 am, the two suspects were traced and arrested in the vicinity of Holland Avenue. Following further investigations, a third accomplice was arrested in the vicinity of Bedok South. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are believed to be involved in at least five cases of theft from stalls.
The suspects will be charged in Court on 9 Sep 2010 at 2.00 pm for the offence of Theft from Stalls with Common Intention under Section 379 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code Chapter 224, which carries a maximum jail term of three years imprisonment, or with fine or both.
Commander of Clementi Police Division HQ, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Melvin Yong, commended his officers for their good investigative work which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
