Police have arrested a 20 year-old man who attempted to bribe a Police officer on 17 September 2010 .
On 17 September 2010 at about 3pm , Police officers from Central Police Division conducted a check on 2 men in the vicinity of New Bridge Road and took down their particulars. After the check, one of the men approached A/Inspector Tan Kok Ann, who was one of the officers conducting the check, and requested him to remove his particulars from the record. He then took out $20 from his wallet and offered A/Insp Tan the money to buy drinks. However, A/Insp Tan did not succumb to temptation and rejected the offer without hesitation. The man was then placed under arrest and the case was subsequently referred to the Corrupt Practices Investigations Bureau (CPIB).
DAC Tan Hung Hooi, Commander of Central Police Division, commended A/Insp Tan for turning down the bribe. He added "Integrity is a core value of the Singapore Police Force and cannot be bought.”
