Serial Thief Who Stole from Motor Vehicles Arrested
 

Police have arrested a 35 year-old man who is believed to be responsible for a series of thefts from motor vehicle.

On 08 September 2010, several motor vehicles were broken into at the multi-storey carpark at Blk 84A Commonwealth Close. Items stolen included cash, cash cards and other personal belongings.

Through extensive follow up investigations, officers managed to establish the identity of the suspect. On 22 Sep 2010 at about 5.00pm, the suspect was arrested at New Bridge Road. Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect is believed to be involved in at least four other cases of theft from motor vehicles.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 23 Sep 2010 at 2.00pm for the offence of Theft from Motor Vehicle under Section 379 of the Penal Code Chapter 224, which carries a jail term of up to three years imprisonment, or a fine, or both.

Commander of Clementi Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Melvin Yong, commended his officers for their good investigative work which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
