Police Nets 'Aquarium' Housebreaker
 

Police have arrested a 29-year-old man who is believed to be responsible for a case of break-in reported at an aquarium in Hougang.

On 18 September 2010 at about 5.00am, Police were informed of a break-in at an aquarium at Hougang Street 21 where cash and an assortment of exotic fishes, valued at about $30,000, were reported stolen.

Following the report, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted intensive investigations and ground enquiries and managed to establish the identity of the suspect. On 30 September 2010 at about 4.30am, the suspect was arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is also believed to be responsible for at least two other cases of fish theft at Lim Tua Tow Road.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 1 October 2010 for the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 14 years.

Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Hsu Sin Yun, commended his officers for their good investigative work which led to the arrest of the suspect.
