Mr Ng Joo Hee, Commissioner of the Singapore Police Force ( SPF ), has been conferred the award of Bintang Bhayangkara Utama by Police General Drs. Timur Pradopo, Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP), on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, on 30 June 2011 at the Indonesian National Police Headquarters.
Commissioner Ng was appointed Commissioner of Police on 1 February 2010. Since his appointment, Commissioner Ng has actively fostered closer and stronger relations between the SPF and the INP. As an affirmation of his outstanding contributions to the close cooperation and excellent bilateral relations between the two police forces in the fight against crime, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia has conferred the award of the Bintang Bhayangkara Utama on Commissioner Ng.
The award, known as the Bhayangkara Star, and which refers to the Star of the Republic of Indonesia, is the highest award that the INP can confer on an individual for outstanding contributions and cooperation with the INP.
Both the SPF and the INP enjoy an excellent relationship with close cooperation in the areas of maritime security operations, information sharing, as well as training exchanges. These collaborations have yielded significant operational benefits for both forces in combating terrorism and transnational crime.
Said Commissioner Ng, “This is high honour not for me, but for the men and women of the Singapore Police Force. Criminals and terrorists do not care about international boundaries. Transnational crime threatens both Singapore and Indonesia . To meet this threat, both the Singapore Police Force and the Indonesia National Police continues to work closely together and to cooperate and collaborate in our joint fight against crime and wrong-doing.”
