Police have arrested three men aged between 22 and 29 who are believed to be responsible for a series of bicycle theft cases.
On 15 March 2012 at 4.30am, Police received a call from a member of the public regarding three suspicious men at the void deck of Blk 849 Jurong West Street 81. Officers from Jurong Police Division responded to the scene immediately and detained one of the suspects, aged 22, for suspected theft of bicycle at the location. Extensive ground enquiries were conducted to pursue the whereabouts of the other two suspects who had left before Police’s arrival. The remaining duo were eventually arrested in the vicinity of Gul Road on the same day. Police investigations revealed that the three suspects are believed to be responsible for several cases of bicycle theft reported in Jurong West. To date, Police have recovered a total of five from the suspects’ possession.
The suspects will be charged in Court on 16 March 2012 for the offence of Theft with Common Intention under Section 379 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they face a fine, an imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, or both .
Commander of Jurong Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police Florence Chua, commended her officers for their dedication and good investigative follow-up which led to the arrest of the trio.
