A total of 5,050 youths were arrested for crime in 2005, as compared to 5,010 in 2004. They accounted for 23% of the total persons arrested, a decrease from the 26% in 2004, but still higher than the proportion of the youth population in Singapore (16%).
The three most common offences committed continued to be: shop theft (1527 persons), other theft (796 persons) and rioting (548 persons). |
