Human population rose by 5.47% in 2008, registering the greatest increase in recent years (Table A1 refers).

Nonetheless, the fatal and injury casualty rate per 100,000 human population has decreased from 230.27 to 226.56 in 2008 (Chart A1 refers), while the fatality rate per 100,000 human population has also decreased from 4.66 in 2007 to 4.59 in 2008 (Chart A2 refers).



The casualty rates were calculated based on a total of 8,451 fatal and injury accidents that resulted in 10,964 casualties (Tables A2 and A3 refer).
