Against the backdrop of an increase in human and vehicle population, 2008 saw a drop in the fatality rate to 4.59 from 4.66 in 2007 (Chart 1 refers), which is comparable to other major cities.

In 2008, there were a total of 213 fatal and 8,238 injury accidents that resulted in 222 fatal and 10,742 injured casualties. Please refer to Annex A for details.
